Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Functional Nutrition?
Functional nutrition focuses on how foods and nutrients impact your body at a cellular and systemic level. Instead of following a generic plan, a functional nutrition approach considers your unique needs and health goals, addressing issues like inflammation, headaches, and digestive discomfort.
How Can Functional Nutrition Help With Inflammation?
Chronic inflammation can contribute to pain, fatigue, and long-term health problems. Functional nutrition emphasizes anti-inflammatory foods, like leafy greens, fatty fish, and antioxidant-rich fruits, while identifying dietary triggers that may make inflammation worse. This approach can complement chiropractic care at Endeavor Health Center to support overall musculoskeletal and nerve health.
Can Functional Nutrition Help With Headaches?
Yes. Certain nutrient deficiencies or dietary triggers can contribute to frequent headaches or migraines. By assessing your diet and suggesting food or lifestyle adjustments, a functional nutrition approach can reduce headache frequency and severity.
What Causes a Hormonal Imbalance?
A hormonal imbalance can be caused by natural changes or stages in your life, including puberty, pregnancy, perimenopause, and menopause. Hormone levels can also dramatically decrease after a partial or full hysterectomy.
What Are the Signs and Symptoms of a Hormonal Imbalance?
You might have no symptoms at all, and still have a hormonal imbalance. You might also experience signs and symptoms which can become severe. These signs and symptoms include:
- Irritability and fatigue
- Mood swings and depression
- Skin dryness and loss of elasticity
- Water retention and weight gain
- Osteoporosis and joint pain
- Less interest in sex
- Insomnia and other sleep disorders
- Memory issues and difficulty concentrating
How Long Will Therapy Last?
Typically, patients meet with mental health therapists face to face for 50 to 55 minutes, depending on the situation. Patients also spend 5-10 minutes checking in and filling out short mood questionnaires. You can find out more by visiting our Mental Wellness page or Contact Us for more information.
Nutritional clients will have an initial 45 minute consultation, then at home lab testing. Once those results are available the client and therapist will have a 60 – 90 minute consultation to discuss the results and plan.
What is an Intake Evaluation?
The goal of the intake evaluation is to collect information to provide to the therapist in an efficient way.
Are there Homework Assignments?
The most important, positive changes that you will make in your life will occur in your everyday experiences outside of your therapist’s office. To help you make these “real life” changes, your therapist will help you design homework assignments. These assignments will show you how to apply the ideas and skills you’ve learned in therapy between sessions. This process will enable you to become your own therapist once your work with your cognitive therapist is complete.
There are many types of homework assignments. Some include learning how to observe and measure your own thoughts, feelings, and actions so you can improve your awareness of your strengths and weaknesses.
